Lecture by Dr Simon Thompson. Dr Thompson is Senior Advisor to Rothschild & Company, a Director at the British Geological Society, and former Chair of Rio Tinto. The lecture will explore the contribution of the mining & metals industry to the economic and social development of Britain, and the future role of the industry in providing essential materials for the energy transition. The event will also mark the 30th year collaboration between Camborne School of Mines and the University of Exeter. Tea & coffee will be served from 6.00pmin the Upper Stannary Bar for a 6.30pm lecture start. There is plenty of campus car parking on site and parking is free from 5.00pm onwards.
